Community Support Shines at Sobeys Amherstburg Fundraiser
Saturday May 9th - What an incredible day of community spirit, smiles, and support at Sobeys Amherstburg!
Athletes and volunteers from LaSalle-Windsor Special Olympics were proud to spend the day connecting with customers, helping at the BBQ fundraiser, and sharing the joy and energy that make our program so remarkable. The event was made even more meaningful as many members of the community came out to support one of our own, Team Ontario athlete Yanhong, who will soon be travelling to the Canada Games in Medicine Hat.
We are thrilled to share that the fundraiser was a tremendous success, raising $2,140 through the BBQ along with an additional $870 in support of Yanhong — for a total of more than $3,000 raised!
A heartfelt thank you goes out to store manager Rick, Krista and the amazing staff and leadership team at Sobeys Amherstburg for creating such a welcoming atmosphere. We also want to thank every customer, donor, volunteer, coach, athlete, and community member who stopped by to support the fundraiser. Your generosity and encouragement mean so much to our athletes.
The highlight of the day was seeing Yanhong, who proudly works at Sobeys Amherstburg, surrounded by support from her coworkers, teammates, friends, and the community. It was a wonderful example of how sport, community, and inclusion come together through Special Olympics.
Thank you, Amherstburg, for helping our athletes continue to chase their goals and dreams!
