Welcome to Special Olympics – LaSalle Windsor (LWSO)!
We’re a dynamic, inclusive community where athletes with intellectual disabilities—ages 8 to 80—come together for fun, friendship, fitness, and friendly competition. Whether you're aiming for gold or just love to move and socialize, there’s a place for everyone at LWSO.
Founded in 2003 by members of the LaSalle Police Service, our club began with a simple goal: offer accessible sports and recreation for all, at little or no cost. What started with a few track and field activities quickly grew into a vibrant year-round program offering many activities inluding basketball, athletics, softball, bowling, and swimming.
Today, thanks to a 2014 partnership between LaSalle and Windsor special olympics programs, we proudly offer athletes more opportunities than ever—locally, regionally, provincially, and even nationally or internationally.
Highlights of what we do:
Train and compete in basketball, track and field, softball, bowling, swimming and many more
Participate in Law Enforcement Torch Runs, Polar Plunge, and community fundraisers
Celebrate every season with an awards party where everyone’s a winner
At LWSO, our athletes grow in skill, confidence, and connection with peers—with a lot of laughs along the way.
Join us—and be part of something special.
