Dive Into Community: The LaSalle Windsor Swim Program at WIATC
Every Friday night from October through April, the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre (WIATC) comes alive with the energy and enthusiasm of the LaSalle Windsor swim program. Since 2014, when WIATC first opened its doors, dedicated swimmers have gathered here to hone their skills, build friendships, and celebrate the joy of swimming.
Practices begin with dynamic activation exercises on deck, then transition to the pool for both long- and short-course swims. The highlight of each evening? Relays that bring out the best in every athlete, fostering teamwork and excitement.
Tradition is at the heart of the program. Each year, swimmers look forward to the annual Brantford meet in March and the spirited Special Olympics Polar Plunge, where the team comes together for a great cause. The holiday season is marked by a festive celebration, featuring fun relays between athletes and coaches, and a party attended by none other than Santa himself.

But the LaSalle Windsor swim program is about more than just swimming. It’s about giving back. Every year, the team collects personal care items for those in need, with this year’s donations going to the Parkwood Outreach Centre, supporting vulnerable members of the community.
As the season draws to a close, swimmers and coaches take turns on the dive platforms, and families join in the celebration on deck, marking the end of another successful year.
Interested in joining the fun? The program welcomes everyone to visit on Friday evenings from 7 pm to 9 pm. Whether you’re a seasoned swimmer or just curious, come see what makes the LaSalle Windsor swim program a cornerstone of community and camaraderie.
See you at the pool !
